En anglais, l’expression “ thrill seekers ” tend à désigner des personnes qui font du vertige, de la poussée d’adrénaline, l’objet d’une recherche intense : elle désigne les “ junkies du choc ”. Si la GNF Gallery a choisi ce terme comme intitulé de sa nouvelle exposition, c’est pour souligner l’ambiguité de la position de la galerie – mais aussi des artistes qu’elle soutient et des collectionneurs qu’elle fréquente – par rapport à la question du désir et du “ bel objet ” qui, dans le domaine de l’art, attise ce désir. Dans une société de consommation, où toute oeuvre d’art est assimilée à une commodité marchande et ainsi soumise au “ libre-échange ”, c'est-à-dire au désir pulsionnel généralisé, comment l’artiste, le collectionneur, l’amateur, la galerie doivent-ils se positionner par rapport au désir ? C’est-à-dire, quelle position occupent-ils l’un

In english, the expression 'Thrill seekers' tends to designate people for whom vertigo is the object of an intense search: it is used to describe 'adrenalin junkies'. If the GNF Gallery has chosen this term as title of its new exhibition, it is to stress the ambiguous position that the gallery - but also the artists it supports and the collectors it socializes with - have in relation to the question of desire and that of the 'beautiful object' which, in art, stirs that desire. In a consumerist society, where every work of art is viewed as a commodity and thereby subject to 'free trade', that is, the liberation of pulsional desire on a mass scale, what is the position of the artist, the collector, the amateur or the galerist in relation to desire? That is to say, what is their respective position in relation to each other and how can they build a relationship between them? This exhibition is the answer given to these questions by Jérôme Poloczeck and five artists invited by him to participate."
